Although it's often called the “idiot test”, it's not really a test. It's not about your intelligence, it's about your ability to drive. The only purpose is to determine whether you are fit to drive again. The MPU consists of three sections. In the first section, a doctor examines whether you have physical limitations or illnesses that preclude your fitness to drive. The second section consists of a reaction and performance test on the computer, which shows whether you are sufficiently resilient and can react appropriately. The third and final section of the MPU is the psychological section. There you will be given precise information about the background to your offenses and how you want to avoid further irregularities in the future. At the end, the results are written down in a report, which you usually receive by post. MPU is not a punishment or an interrogation Many of those affected find the expert discussion very unpleasant. They think they have to justify themselves. The agency's order is often seen as an added punishment, and many believe the only way to get the MPU is to lie to the psychologist and make up a story. Accordingly, the expert discussion feels more like an interrogation and not like an exploratory discussion. But anyone who has prepared for the assessment with professional help knows that things can also be very different. We try to work things out so that nothing has to be kept secret. Because people usually feel very uncomfortable when lying. It is all the nicer for most people to hear that you can and should be completely honest in the MPU. MPU assessors work very fair The psychologist is not interested in giving you a negative report if possible. He just wants to hear from you what the causes of your offenses are and what you can do to avoid attracting attention in the future. Of course, the topics can become very private. But this is the only way the psychologist can be sure that you are fit to drive again. Most of the reviewers we deal with work fairly and even try to help the participants with the review. However, if you start the MPU completely unprepared, behave negatively or even aggressively, you have little chance of a positive report.

Preparation for MPU begins much earlier than most sufferers realize. Because this includes not only preparatory courses at a counseling center or seminars. Everything else that you have already done before your MPU can also be useful for the MPU. This includes collecting proofs of abstinence, getting information on the internet or from acquaintances or just reading our website. It shows that you are dealing with and dealing with the topic and that alone is a big step towards positive MPU!

At Invictus Counseling there are no group sessions like you may have heard from other counseling centers. We only offer individual sessions. With our individual consultation, you will receive a personal contact person who will advise you before your MPU and will accompany you for so long , until you get your driver's license back. In the further course of the preparation, your traffic offenses, the background and causes of the offenses and (if relevant ) also about your consumption of alcohol or other substances. You discuss with your advisor what you have already changed in your habits and what you can still do to regain your suitability as a driver. At the end of our measure, we always carry out a so-called MPU Check UP, in which the expert discussion of the MPU is simulated. This gives you more security for the real assessment, which you then carry out at an assessment center for driving aptitude.
